Super Value Chilean Cabernet - Santa Rita 120 Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Source: wine.com

Price: $7.99

If you're searching for a solid, every day value in Cabernet Sauvignon for under $10, look no farther. This Cabernet Sauvignon shows why Chile has developed such a reputation for super value red and white wines.

Spends an average of eight months in small French and American oak barrels, resulting in an exceptionally round, mouth-filling wine. Ripe cherry and currant flavors, with a velvety finish. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

"Surprisingly powerful and rich in fruit for its price, this offers black currant and cassis over youthfully rustic tannins. Give it some pork."

SUNDAY IBERIAN

Mercat Opens for Brunch

Morning in NoHo just got a little friendlier, with the impeccable East Village taperia serving up Berkshire pork hash, Iberico ham sandwiches and, naturally, Spanish omelets. They're also now open until 2am on weekend nights, if you're not much of a morning person.

You had me at hola

Toloache is a flowering plant in Mexico, used to make love potions. That must be their secret ingredient, because I've fallen fast and hard for Toloache. It's great for pre-theater, because the dishes are ideal for sharing, making ordering a snap, and they come out faster than you can say speedygonzales.

It's always hectic trying to manage an early dinner in NYC, but their potent, festive margaritas and gracious, on-the-ball staff quickly put me in the right frame of mind to enjoy the evening.

Try one -or all- of their three types of guacamole, along with the best tomato habanero salsa north of Mexicana Mama. Order one of their sassy ceviches, like the shrimp, hamachi, oyster, octopus and avocado. And try standout entrees like the chile-crusted tuna with sautéed corn and chorizo, and the brick-oven roasted suckling pig with a sweet-hot splash of salsa

Pretty in PRONOVIAS

Pretty in PRONOVIAS
Something old, something new, something borrowed... you know the rest, but if you’re going to be superstitious at all, make sure you have something PRONOVIAS. What started as a small family business in Barcelona in 1922 has skyrocketed into the world’s premier source for breathtakingly beautiful wedding gowns. PRONOVIAS creative director Manuel Mota and his design powerhouse research, select, and then create hundreds of new gown styles each year, with one being more luxurious and exquisite than the next.

So whether you covet the delicate draping and princess-like embroidery of a couture gown or the simplicity and classic appeal of a vintage one, Mota and his team will assist you in finding your perfect match (in dress form, of course - you’ve already found the other kind).

The selection is virtually unparalleled, with looks from four different collections: PRONOVIAS, Mota’s own line, PRONOVIAS Vintage, and PRONOVIAS Fiesta, in addition to bridal accessories and featured collections from Elie by Elie Saab and Valentino Sposa.

We’re especially loving the ethereal looks and haute couture fabrics in the first collection, and the way the Mota combines details in new and innovative ways time and time again. Your dream dress already exists, and it’s by PRONOVIAS.

A Decade of Rodriguez

A Decade of Rodriguez
After 10 years, there are a multitude of memories, but Narciso Rodriguez limited them to 20, one from each runway collection from Spring 1998 through Fall 2007, to show the line’s signature design elements: architectural seaming, cutout details, and clean lines.

The collection consists of variations on a theme, the color black, which is reinterpreted in cotton poplin, stretch wool, crepe de chine, washed silk satin, and matte jersey. These pieces are identical to the originals and are for sale at Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman beginning mid-January through June. Prices range from $395 to $1,120, with dresses starting at $725 to $1,395.

Southern Comfort - Yerba Maté

source: Style.com

Guayakí Yerba Maté fair-trade tea-filled gourd, $12, available at http://www.guayaki.com/.

What do native Paraguayan forest people, Argentine cowboys, and Brazilian fashion editors all imbibe to get them through their day? Hint: It's not a grande latte. Take a tip from the South Americans and, instead of coffee or Diet Coke for fuel in the new year, try yerba maté. The powerful potion is a traditional tealike beverage made from the dried leaves of a yerba maté tree—the loose leaves are combined with hot water inside a hollowed-out gourd and drunk through a "bombilla," or filtered straw. Devotees swear by the mineral- and nutrient-packed brew for energy and weight loss. Even better, Guayakí, which sells a wide variety of yerba maté products, is carbon-neutral, solar-powered, and supports a wide range of local programs and projects in the South American rain forests, where the yerba maté tree is grown. Drinking it does a body, and a continent, good.

Casa Naranja Workout Playlist on ITunes

It is now the first week in January; good new is that your Veuve-induced hangover should be easing off just about now; bad news it that if you want to get ready for beach season, time to hit the gym and work that butt off. What better to share with our fellow gym buddies than the Casa Naranja Workout playlist. And even if you don’t make it to the gym, these are some great tunes to listen to while eating cold pizza and swilling a Presidente on those Sundays when you are still in your PJs at noon.
