Trip to Brazil for Carnaval a bit out of the budget?
Do the next best thing: head to SOB’s for two days of costumed sambaing, booty-shaking and percussing.
Its 25th annual Carnaval celebration will feature live music and performances from Dendé & the Hãhãhães and Matraca & the Batucada Beat Dancers on Saturday, and D.J.s spinning baile funk on Sunday. There’ll also be Brazilian food, and all the caipiroska you can get away with.

Surprise Sandel

Imagine my surprise as I was shopping for my annual pilgrimage to Tulum, Mexico later this month to come upon this delicious surprise sandel, from Old Navy no less!!!

At $16.50 needless to say I am ordering all 5 colors. I don't know who is "guest revamping" in the design room at Old Navy but I can't get enough of their spring collection.

rosewood mayakoba opens in mexico

Source: juli b.com

avoid your usual spring jaunt to cannes and turn your radar in a different direction. consider the tranquil new rosewood mayakobá resort on the riviera maya.

this muy luxe hotel sits on a mile-long arc of white caribbean sands in the middle of an eco jungle enclave, freshwater lagoons and canals. does it get any better? you bet. expect private patios and fab fittings. local limestone and wood materials are used to bring the modern resort in harmony with its natural surrounding habitat. if you're tired of snorkeling, explore the beautiful ruins dotted all over the local yucatán. how 'bout a lomi lomi nui massage at the sense spa, opening this month? and when night falls, head to the resorts' agave azul raw bar for a taste from its massive tequila library.

feeling guilty? just admit it, you're having too much fun.

Fasano Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Fasano
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Fabulously located boutique hotel right on Ipanema Beach. It’s the newly opened younger sister of the uber-chic Fasano Sao Paulo, and is already a favorite with hip Rio locals. Philippe Starck designed the 88 rooms, and filled them with eye-catching furniture from the renowned Brazilian modernist designers Sergio Rodrigues and Oscar Niemeyer. Check into the penthouse for a swimming pool with views of the Atlantic. Come evening, don’t miss the scene in the buzzy Londra bar, and then settle into the hotel’s restaurant to dine on succulent seafood. Room rates from $485.
