Listening - - Haiku by Yusa

For those of you who still only think of Cuban music as being performed by the Buena Vista Social Club, or others of that generation, Haiku by Yusa will be a revelation.

Think Cuban sultry marries Brazilian samba.

Yusa's sound is unique, melodic and quite unforgettable.

Lancome Oscillation PowerMascara. Available Thursday for ONE DAY ONLY!

Source: BeautyandtheBlog.com

RED HOT TIP ALERT!

Lâncome is launching a new vibrating mascara. Yes, vibrating. Powered by 7,000 oscillations per minute, the vibrating motion of the wand gets every lash evenly covered while creating serious lash separation and definition.

The Lâncome Ôscillation PowerMascara ($34) doesn't hit stores until December, but on July 31st (that's this Thursday!), for ONE DAY ONLY, Sephora will offer it online.

This mascara won't be available in stores, and after July 31st, poof! It won't be available anywhere again until late fall. In other words, get it while it's hot.

And in case you're curious, here's how it works:

1. Press the button on the wand to activate the vibration

2. Hold the button during application

3. Place the wand at the root of your lash line and comb wand slowly from root to tip

4. Use about 2-3 strokes for a natural look, or glam it up with a few more coats

Who's your long, skinny neighbor?

Who's your long, skinny neighbor?

While it's the beach life in Brazil and the finer things in Argentina that seem to get all the attention, allow us to direct your attention just a little west — to Chile. It's got wines to rival Argentina's, and while it may not have Brazilian bathing beauties, you'll see no shortage of natural beauty.

We've chosen three destinations you won't want to miss. First stop: Valparaiso. A glimpse into the soul of Chile, this old-fashioned port still feels lost in the 1930s. Check into ZeroHotel and head down to Muelle Prat. From there, it's north to the Atacama desert, one of the world's driest and most surreal places. The Atacama desert has been used in movies filming scenes from Mars but is also home to the village oasis, San Pedro de Atacama. Awasi will set you up with a nice place to sleep after all the desert exploration and nightime stargazing trips. As spring approaches, and Patagonia thaws out, you can set up your base camp at Indigo, in Puerto Natales, or at Remota, on the edge of the Torres del Paine national park. Happy traveling!
